Pack the Pantry: A Day of Service

Join us on the second Wednesday of every month for Smack Dab’s Day of Service.

We’ll gather from 4:00-6:30 pm to pack food and supplies for our neighbors and support the Love Fridge right down the street.

Past Days of Service have included packing hundreds of pounds of rice, beans, lentils, fresh chicken, frozen vegetables, and other staples into portions that people can take home and turn into multiple meals.

We may also divide into teams for projects like cleaning and caring for the Love Fridge area.

Volunteers are welcome, and kids can absolutely join us. Packing dry goods into containers is especially kid-friendly and, frankly, very Montessori. ❤️

Food insecurity can look a lot of different ways. Many of the folks using the Love Fridge have kitchens and the ability to cook, but simply don't have enough food available in those kitchens. Providing staple ingredients means helping someone make more than one meal and giving them a little more flexibility in how they feed themselves and their families.

Want to support the work even if you can't volunteer?

You can donate to our Mutual Fund or add a donation onto your Smack Dab order. A recent Day of Service provided more than 490 pounds of food to the community, with food, packaging, and labor costing about $550.
