Full Time Line Cook

Smack Dab is looking for a fantastic and focused Line Cook to join our team for our busy season and beyond! We are a queer-woman bruncheonette known for our Life-Changing Breakfast Sandwiches, our handmade donuts, our genuine service and our community involvement. 

Our dream hire knows how to bang out a very busy brunch on the line (200+ tickets on the weekends), can mesh quickly into an established system, yet is always excited to improve and innovate with their team. Our Line Cooks need to stay cool under pressure, prioritize tasks and needs on the fly with ever-changing circumstances and execute tickets with speed and accuracy. Egg cookery and grill experience is a must. We feed a lot of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan customers, so knowledge of allergens is crucial. 

Requirements:
Our ideal candidate has mental acuity, strong knife skills and a fluency in standard cooking techniques and bulk production. Expo experience and/or a baking background is a plus, but not required. Candidates should be critical thinkers and self-directed. 

At this time, we are not considering entry-level applicants or those returning to the field. Part of our charm is to make this job look easy--it's not. We work hard to provide a relaxed environment for customers, which means we are professionals who are focused, efficient and results-driven.

Schedule:
Weekend availability is required for morning shifts (7 am–4 pm range), along with 2-3 weekday shifts. There is also an opportunity for weekday production hours in the late afternoon or early evening.

Compensation:
Starting wage is $22–24/hour based on experience. Merit-based raises are available within 90 days, in addition to PTO, sick pay, 401k matching, health insurance and disability.

Full Time FOH Shift Lead

Smack Dab is looking for a self-starting, sweetly sassy sales-maven Shift Lead to join our team for our busy season and beyond! We are a bruncheonette known for our Life-Changing Breakfast Sandwiches, our handmade donuts, our genuine service and our community involvement. 

Our dream hire knows how to bang out a very busy brunch, can mesh quickly into an established system, and is always excited to improve and innovate with their team. Shift Lead needs to be able to prioritize tasks and needs on the fly with ever-changing circumstances. Barista skills are not required, but are a cute bonus. Bassett certification is also a plus, but we are neither a coffeeshop nor a bar, so above all, critical thinking and service experience are key.  

Our ideal candidate is able to learn menu information quickly and apply it to give attentive yet expeditious service to each customer that walks through our doors. We serve a lot of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diners, so understanding food allergens and preferences is crucial. 

Schedule:
Saturdays and Sundays are required, with 2-3 additional shifts. Our mornings begin at 7 am and we often hit the ground running. Calling all earlybirds! *Cheep cheep!*

Responsibilities:
FOH Shift Lead should be excellent at sales, able to provide above-and-beyond service while maintaining the cadence of counter service, manage and supervise team members, participate in beverage prep, and contribute to general team support. 

Requirements:
At least two years of management or front-of-house lead experience in a high-volume restaurant setting. Strong sales, leadership and customer service skills are required. Brunch gets wild here, so you need to thrive in a community-centric, fast-paced environment.

Part Time FOH Team Member

Smack Dab is looking for a feisty yet focused FOH person to join our team for our busy summer season and beyond! 

We are a queer-woman owned bruncheonette known for our Life-Changing Breakfast Sandwiches, our handmade donuts, our genuine service and our community involvement. 

Our dream hire can bus tables, food run, work the register, float, upsell customers on items and generally be a support to the team however needed. They are flexible, collaborative and discerning. They love giving good service and ensuring the customer leaves happier than when they came in the door. They see a task that needs to be done and can take the initiative to do it with efficiency and accuracy. 

We serve a lot of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diners, so understanding food allergens and eating preferences is crucial. 

Barista skills are not required, but are a cute bonus. Bassett certification is also a plus, but we are neither a coffeeshop nor a bar, so above all, critical thinking and floor-focused experience are key.  

Schedule: At least 3 shifts a week, with a mix of weekend and weekday shifts. Our mornings begin at 7 am and we often hit the ground running. Calling all earlybirds! *Cheep cheep!*

Responsibilities:
FOH Team Members should love engaging with customers, provide above-and-beyond service while maintaining the cadence of high-volume counter service and can manage their time effectively in an ever-changing environment.

Requirements:
At least two years of demonstrated high volume floor service in an independently owned restaurant. Strong preference on brunch and/or breakfast joints, with a passion for food in general. Candidate needs to be familiar with a FOH side work, dish machine, general sanitation and food safety practices. 

Strong sales, leadership and customer service skills are crucial--. Brunch gets wild here, so you need to thrive in a community-centric, fast-paced environment.

Weekday Utility/Prep

Looking for an experienced utility/prep person for 4-5 days a week (Monday through Friday) to join our team! Must have experience running dish, maintain a clean and organized BOH, and able to complete simple prep/reset tasks with speed and precision. Candidate should have at least two years working on dish.

These are morning to mid-afternoon shifts. Competitive pay based on experience level (start at $19), opportunities for merit based raises within 30-60-90 days. Please include resume!
